St. Moritz built the idea of the alpine winter season, and its hotels still reflect that inheritance. Seven ranked properties all hold MICHELIN Keys, two at three Keys and two at two Keys, with two Forbes Five-Star ratings and two La Liste entries. Badrutt's Palace Hotel has presided over the lake with its neo-Gothic tower since 1896, and Kulm Hotel St. Moritz, on the site of the pension where winter tourism began, still runs the Cresta Run and the Olympic ice rink.
Above the village, Suvretta House sits with its own lift access to the Corviglia slopes, while Carlton Hotel St. Moritz faces south over the lake and Grace La Margna occupies a 1907 building reopened after long restoration.

St. Moritz Dorf, the upper village around Via Serlas, holds the historic palace hotels and the lake views; St. Moritz Bad down by the water is closer to the cross-country trails and the thermal baths; Champfer and Suvretta sit on the slope towards Silvaplana for direct piste access and quiet.
February is the classic month, with White Turf horse racing on the frozen lake, snow polo and the fullest hotels; the Christmas and New Year fortnight is comparably tight, while July and August offer hiking and the Engadin lakes at a far calmer pace.
By prestige score, the three highest ranked hotels in St. Moritz are Badrutt's Palace Hotel, Carlton Hotel St. Moritz, Kulm Hotel St. Moritz. The score is a composite of MICHELIN Keys, Forbes Travel Guide Five Star ratings, placements in The World's 50 Best Hotels for 2023, 2024 and 2025, and La Liste's hotel ratings. finehotels.world tracks 7 award holding hotels in St. Moritz in total.
St. Moritz has 7 hotels holding MICHELIN Keys in this index, of which 2 hold the top rating of three Keys and 2 hold two Keys.
Each hotel is scored on a fixed formula built only from award facts, then shown on a scale of 5.00 to 10.00. MICHELIN Keys carry the most weight, a Forbes Travel Guide Five Star rating adds a flat six points, placements in The World's 50 Best Hotels for 2023, 2024 and 2025 are weighted equally, and a La Liste rating moves the total slightly. Nothing a hotel supplies about itself enters the score, and the full formula is published on the methodology page so any figure in the table can be reproduced from the awards beside it.
