Las Vegas is ranked here largely through suite programmes rather than whole hotels. Four of the seven properties hold Forbes Five Star, and the recognised inventory concentrates in tower-within-a-resort products: Wynn Tower Suites, Encore Tower Suites, ARIA Sky Suites and Skylofts at MGM Grand, each with separate entrances, private check-in and pools kept apart from the main resort.

The standalone counterweights are Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas, which occupies upper floors of the Mandalay Bay tower at the south end of the Strip and has no casino of its own, Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas at CityCenter, and Fontainebleau Las Vegas, whose blue tower finally opened at the north end after nearly two decades of stalled construction.

Where to stay in Las Vegas

When to go

Occupancy here follows the convention and event calendar more than the weather, peaking around the January technology show and the November street race and staying high on weekends year-round; July and August heat above 40 degrees Celsius empties the city, and midweek nights in spring and autumn are the quietest.

Nothing a hotel supplies about itself enters the score, and the full formula is published on the methodology page so any figure in the table can be reproduced from the awards beside it.
