Question 1

How is the prestige score calculated?

Accepted Answer

From award facts only. Three MICHELIN Keys score 30 points, two score 20, one scores 8. Forbes Travel Guide Five Star adds 6. Each edition of The World's 50 Best Hotels is scored separately and the 2023, 2024 and 2025 editions are weighted equally, so three consistent years outrank one strong year; a rank inside the top ten scores 14 points for that edition, 11 to 25 scores 12, 26 to 50 scores 9, and 51 to 100 scores 5, with the total from all editions capped at 40. La Liste adds one point per half point of rating above 97.0, capped at 6, a deliberately minor sway. The point total is then shown on a scale out of ten. No editorial judgement, no rate data and nothing supplied by a hotel about itself enters the score, and the full formula is published at https://finehotels.world/methodology/

Question 2

What is finehotels.world?

Accepted Answer

An independent index of the world's finest hotels. It unifies four public award systems, the MICHELIN Guide's Keys, Forbes Travel Guide star ratings, The World's 50 Best Hotels for 2023, 2024 and 2025, and La Liste, into a single prestige score out of 10, computed on a formula published in full. No hotel pays to appear or to rank higher.

Question 3

Which hotels are the best in the world?

Accepted Answer

The highest prestige scores belong to the hotels every award system agrees on, among them Mandarin Oriental Bangkok, Raffles Singapore, Cheval Blanc Paris, Four Seasons Firenze and Claridge's in London. The full ranked list is at https://finehotels.world/best-hotels-in-the-world/
